Hey all, I’m back again and finally have an update for you. RL has dealt me a pretty bad hand as of late – feel like I’ve spent more time than I should have in Rura Penthe lol Despite that, I’ve summoned enough motivation to finish Lancer and my re-write of Marklin (can see them below or also on my Index page)
There’s not a whole lot to say other than what I’ve written in the annotations for both of these. One issue thought that I really haven’t been conscious of, but has sort of bugged me while finishing up Marklin has been the issue of numbers. When describing whatever class, I’ve often come up with a prelimenary production figure that is almost always completely arbitrary. While finishing up Marklin though, I realized that though Starfleet had started building the right kind of ships, they still weren’t building enough of them. I went back and read this link here and resolved that when I finally go back through my TMP classes, I’ll bump those numbers way up.
Also, one of the things I plan on doing when I get into the TMP era is rewriting the history of the ‘Class V’ fighter family (the Wasp, Hornet and Yellowjacket craft from the Jackill reference manuals). Before I do that though, I have to lay some groundwork and really spell out just what it is Starfleet uses starfighters for (in the 23rd Century at least). This means I’ll have to go back and rewrite the old Yorktown class Carrier. I would hope it wouldn’t take too long, as I have it entering service in the 2250’s – so I don’t have to waste time shoehorning it into my overall Four Years War narrative – but with the way things have been going with me lately, who knows?
